FIRST ARTICLE TEST CO-ORDINATOR – 1 Year Contract Position

This is the primary point-person responsible for planning, executing, and delivering FAT events on time, within budget, and in accordance to specifications. The role is to partner and work with the Boeing customer, as well as, interact across different departments within Northstar facility to achieve the deliverables. Efficient delivery of project deliverables, effective quality control, clear communication of expectations to stakeholders, and upward reporting to senior management are critical tasks that must be performed throughout each projects lifecycle.

Additional Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will be a have a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing processes or equivalent, with a minimum of five plus years, as a Quality Engineer within an aerospace manufacturing environment. Knowledge of AS9102 FAI requirement a must.



STANDARDS INSPECTOR - GROUP 3

Must be familiar with optical and other measuring instruments such as are used in obtaining very fine measurements. Will be required to check all types of gauges as may be used in this company's activities. Must have sufficient knowledge of mathematics and trigonometry.

Must be familiar with electrical, electronic and mechanical instruments and related testing equipment. Will be required to check, function and calibrate all types of above-mentioned gauges and testing equipment as may be used in this company's activities.

Should have electrical, electronic and mechanical training to carry out the work without supervision. Will be required to compile and keep all necessary records (Calibrate- means minor adjustments).



CNC GEAR MACHINIST

Required to set-up and operate Spur, Spiral Bevel, Helix Gear and Spline Grinding Machines to develop prescribed tooth forms and other gear tooth dimensions. Set-up and operate Gear Tooth Grinding and Cutting Machines to develop prescribed tooth contact patterns and other gear tooth dimensions in accordance with written and/or verbal instructions.

Sets up and operates gear testing equipment, interprets test results and makes required changes in machine set-up as indicated by test results. Uses precision measuring and checking equipment. May be required to set-up and operate Thread Grinding and Broach Machines.

Requirements:
Secondary school education is usually required. Plus 5 – 8 years of experience working in cnc machining with experience in gear cutting
Must be willing and able to work rotating shifts.

Skilled Trades Status: Ticketed

Machine Time: 8 years and up




PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

Candidates should have supervisory experience encompassing good problem solving and communication skills, coupled with a strong technical ability, including experience with manual and CNC machines. Experience and knowledge of gear manufacturing, grinding and quality inspection would be a definite asset. The successful candidate should possess a general machinist license or have served an apprenticeship program. Experience in the aerospace industry is considered an asset. Working knowledge of OHSA is mandatory, and experience in Lean manufacturing/Six Sigma is considered an asset.

The position entails supervising a team of skill trades and production employees in a unionized environment in all areas of manufacturing, with focus on the CNC Machine shop, and quality departments.



MACHINE REPAIR – Full Time Position

Industrious, and detail-oriented are a few of the qualities that you will bring with you as a highly skilled Machine Repair person. Applicants must have served an apprenticeship as a Mill Wright, and have experience in servicing, performing modification, maintenance and repairs to CNC and Manual machines, machine tools, and other related hydraulic and pneumatic piping system, in a precision machine shop environment. The successful candidate will have the ability to diagnose the cause of a machine or equipment malfunction, and implement the solution; must be competent to work to blueprints, schematic drawings and service manuals; must be able to perform maintenance on boilers, air compressors, steam equipment and chiller systems.

BENCH FINISHER

Use and read the following measuring tools & instruments (supplied by company):


Read and comprehend all surface finish, mismatch notations and "flags" on part drawings without assistance.
Read, understand and follow operation/picture sheet and work order instructions.
Must have good knowledge of surface finishes and work without a sample part for de-burring and finishing.
Must have good knowledge of abrasive discs, cartridges, flap wheels, emery and polishing cloth.
Capable to bench finish all materials used for aircraft and commercial work.
Set up and perform bench finishing operations unassisted within established time standards.
Select correct hand tools and abrasive materials to perform bench finishing operations.

Operate the following power equipment and hand tools:


Perform the following manual operations within prescribed time standards:


Perform re-work to instructions from supervisor and Engineering department without assistance.
Obtain 1st. off inspection for bench finishing within established time standards.
Work with supervisor or Manufacturing Engineering to develop new component bench finishing methods via continuous improvement.
Optimize existing bench finishing methods to obtain best productivity and quality results.
Familiar with corrosion protection requirements for aircraft and commercial parts at bench finishing.
Move in-process material when instructed by supervisor.
Understand and follow safe work practices and safe material handling practices.
Experience – minimum 5 yrs.

Applicants must have a certificate of qualification or have at least 8 years experience in areas covered by an apprenticeship within this skilled trade. Aerospace and experience with Lean manufacturing is an asset.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to set up and operate one or all of the following: CNC Machining Centres and Mills with 3, 4 or 5 axis; CNC Lathes and CNC Grinders all to close tolerances.
