Government Property Manager

Overview:

Northstar Chicago is seeking a talented Government Property Manager for our 350 person 24/7 facility. In addition to leading compliance efforts relating to business and quality systems, this individual has the responsibility for all Property Administration to ensure that adequate property accountability systems are established and administered by Northstar. This includes all Government and other customer supplied product and tooling designated for Government contracts to which property has been assigned and to ensure that proper usage and care of the property continues from the time of acquisition to final property closeout. These responsibilities include maintaining accurate and current records, accounting for the property’s existence/condition, and maintaining historical data files. Is the key contact between Northstar and Government property administrators in addition to other customer property administration when applicable.

MRO Buyer

Overview:
Northstar Chicago is seeking a talented MRO Buyer for our 350 person 24/7 facility. The primary responsibility of this position is the purchase of MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operation) / non-production / non-inventory material (shop supplies, tooling, service, etc) as required, at a fair price, timely delivery and good quality.

Engineering Manager

Position Summary:

The Engineering Manager is the primary technical liaison for Northstar Aerospace (Milton) acting in a technical leadership capacity. Responsible for the interpretation of design and specification requirements, and is the focal for technical inquiries from Northstar Customers and Northstar Operations (including Northstar Sales and Program Management, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing and Manufacturing Engineering, Gear Metrology, Purchasing and Program Support). When required, the Engineering Manager translates contract requirements into work instructions, processes and tasks and assists Sales and Marketing initiatives by providing technical support for bids and proposals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Engineering
    • Provide Evaluation & Disposition of discrepant material,
    • Technical Liaison with Customer Engineering & Quality Personnel
    • Interpretation of drawing & specification requirements
    • Interpretation of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
    • Gear Metrology.
  2. Leadership:
    • Supervise direct reports
    • Mentor and develop employees within the department
    • Communicate and cascade down the company and departmental goals and objectives
  3. Manufacturing Engineering Support:
    • Process Planning, cnc programming
    • Specification interpretation
    • Product Structure
  4. Quality Support:
    • Assist with MRB Cause & Corrective Action Statements
    • Interpretation of test results (including Destructive testing)
    • Gear Metrology
    • Product Quality Deficiency Reports
  5. Factory Support:
    • Assemble and test
    • Alternative Processes and materials
    • "Special" processes
  6. Program Support:
    • Value Engineering Change proposals
    • Component repair procedures
    • Functional test specifications and procedures
    • Evaluation and disposition of used and/or discrepant product
    • Consumption based Bills of Material
    • Continuous Improvement initiatives

Education and/or equivalent training:

B.S.M.E. (Mechanical Analysis & Design)
15-20 years in Design, Development, Test and Repair/Overhaul of Aerospace Drive Systems. Gearing knowledge a must
10-15 years Shop Floor experience (directly or indirectly)



Non Destructive Testing, Level-2 Inspector

Inspector is required to have MT & Surface temper Inspection (Nital Etch) NAS 410 Level-II and preferred CGSB qualification. Additional work experience with Rockwell surface Hardness Testing is an asset.

Paid over time after 40 hours worked.



CNC Cylindrical Grinders

Skilled Trades Status: Ticketed

Machine Time: 8 years and up




Electronic/Electrical Maintenance

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years Licensed Electrical/Electronic experience working within a manufacturing environment. Master Electrician license an asset.

Required primarily to perform preventative maintenance, make modifications, locate malfunctions and repair electrical and electronic controls of the highest degree of complexity used on numerical controlled and other sophisticated electronically controlled machines, machines tools electronic recording and other like manufacturing and quality control equipment; to functionally test and perform initial checkout of such equipment; to test and replace faulty equipment and components; to make all necessary calibration and adjustments; to use any required test equipment including function generators and oscilloscopes; to perform duties as set out in the job summary for the electrician (Maintenance and Construction) and to perform all incidental job duties necessary to accomplish the work functions of the job. Adapts to new methods, processes, materials and equipment. Works to blueprints, schematics, wiring and circuit diagrams, instruction manuals and other like information.

The ideal candidate must be energetic, willing to work independently and be flexible with respect to working different shift operation.



Machine Repair

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience working within a CNC manufacturing environment. Licensed Millwright with minimum Grade 12 diploma.

Required to perform general servicing, modification, maintenance and repairs necessary to keep machines, machine tools, other plant equipment and their related hydraulic and pneumatic piping systems (other than new piping installations), HVAC, in efficient operating condition. The work includes diagnosing the cause of malfunctioning machines and other plant equipment and making necessary adjustments, repairs and as necessary making parts incidental to the work; to install, align, dismantle, crate, uncrate and move and handle machines, machine tools, pumps, compressors, motors, generators and other like equipment; to layout, fabricate, erect and install and/or maintain various types of metal structures including hoists, conveyors, rails, cranes, hoppers, work stands, dollies, scaffolding, and other like items. Routine maintenance requirements of all boilers, air compressors, air and steam equipment and chiller systems. Adapts to new methods, processes, material and equipment. Works to blueprints, schematic drawings, service manuals and other like information.

ELECTRO-PLATER

Requires the etching, plating, polishing and electro-plating of detailed parts.

Performs the operations necessary to produce required changes in physical and/or chemical properties, prepares components to a prescribed method of treatment.

Wash and oil parts in between operations if instructed to. Touch up Black Oxide and Chromate.

Prepare and mix metalizing solutions according to formulas or specifications. Check proper thickness of plating using micrometers, calipers or other devices.





HEAT TREATER

By the use of furnaces or other devices, heat treat any metal to required specifications. Must possess a thorough knowledge of the physical and chemical properties of the metals to be treated and able to work out treatment problems for which no chart or table exists.





GENERAL MACHINIST SKILLED TRADES – Group 2



BENCH FINISHER

Use and read the following measuring tools & instruments (supplied by company):


Read and comprehend all surface finish, mismatch notations and "flags" on part drawings without assistance.
Read, understand and follow operation/picture sheet and work order instructions.
Must have good knowledge of surface finishes and work without a sample part for de-burring and finishing.
Must have good knowledge of abrasive discs, cartridges, flap wheels, emery and polishing cloth.
Capable to bench finish all materials used for aircraft and commercial work.
Set up and perform bench finishing operations unassisted within established time standards.
Select correct hand tools and abrasive materials to perform bench finishing operations.

Operate the following power equipment and hand tools:


Perform the following manual operations within prescribed time standards:


Perform re-work to instructions from supervisor and Engineering department without assistance.
Obtain 1st. off inspection for bench finishing within established time standards.
Work with supervisor or Manufacturing Engineering to develop new component bench finishing methods via continuous improvement.
Optimize existing bench finishing methods to obtain best productivity and quality results.
Familiar with corrosion protection requirements for aircraft and commercial parts at bench finishing.
Move in-process material when instructed by supervisor.
Understand and follow safe work practices and safe material handling practices.
Experience – minimum 5 yrs.

SKILLED TRADES

Industrious, and detail-oriented are a few of the qualities that you will bring with you as a highly skilled General Machinist. Applicants must have a certificate of qualification or have at least 8 years experience in areas covered by an apprenticeship within this skilled trade. Aerospace and experience with Lean manufacturing is an asset.

GENERAL MACHINISTS

The ideal candidate will have the ability to set up and operate one or all of the following: CNC Machinig Centres and Mills with 3, 4 or 5 axis; CNC Lathes and CNC Grinders all to close tolerances.

GEAR MACHINISTS

The ideal Gear machinist candidate should be able to set up and operate Spur, Spiral Bevel, Helix Gear and Spline Grinding machines to prescribed tooth forms and other gear tooth dimensions. Gear cutting experience is a definite must.
